Triisopropylsilane [6485-79-6] is can be used as a reducing agent: for selective reduction of C-aryl glycosides to β-aryl glycosides. In the presence of trifluoroacetic acid, promotes the cleavage of acetylaminomethyl (Acm), 4-methoxybenzyl (Mob) and tert-butyl (But) protecting groups in cysteine (Cys) residues. Reduction of amides to the corresponding amines in the presence of transition metal catalysts.
